“Belong, Become, Believe” Sermon Series – When thinking about what makes a person a Christian, we often start with belief. Someone confesses belief in Jesus, learns what is expected as a Christian, and then finds belonging in a community with other Christians. But Jesus didn’t work that way, nor does that pattern work for many of the outskirts of the church today. This series beginning April 11 and running through May 9 explores the ways in which Jesus lived out a gospel of homecoming and modeled the primary need for and power of belonging.
Things we want you to know this week.
Sunday School is Back! – The Sunday School program at Geist Christian Church is made possible by the help of volunteers. Volunteer teachers give us the ability to offer multiple classrooms and grades. Class size is dependent upon the number of volunteers available. The lessons and materials are prepared each week for the teacher to facilitate. Please email email@example.com for more information and to volunteer.
New Small Group Zoom Study: I Corinthians: Searching the Depths of God, written by Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, professor of New Testament at Perkins School of Theology. Dr. Clark-Soles writes that I Corinthians is one of the most gripping books in the Bible. Paul writes to the people in Corinth trying a wild new social experiment known as a Christian community. Not unlike the church today, this community dealt with factions, sexual immorality, gender issues, money issues, theological questions, lawsuits, problems in worship, and problems in leadership. Sign-up to reserve a book. To help defray the cost of the books, a $10 donation would be appreciated. Tuesday, April 27 – Tuesday, June 1, 7:00 pm
