Michelle Latty has had a life deeply intertwined with faith, community, and service. Growing up in the Disciples of Christ denomination, her family was active in the First Christian Church in Kokomo, Indiana. Her strong connection to the church community shaped her throughout her life as she carried the spirit of that congregation with her into adulthood. After earning a degree in Speech Communication and a minor in Psychology from Indiana University - Bloomington, Michelle and her husband, Joe, settled in Fishers, Indiana, in 1996. They raised their three children, Hannah, Coleman, and Olivia, all of whom continued the Hoosier legacy at IU.

Michelle’s involvement with Geist Christian Church began when the Promise Road Campus opened its doors. She initially joined the staff in 2012 as an administrative assistant and soon felt a calling to do more. This led to her role as the director of children’s ministry in 2014, where she poured her creativity, love for teaching, and passion for working with children into helping the youngest members of the church feel God’s love. Taking a brief hiatus from staff in 2019, Michelle served as an elder and vice moderator of the church board before feeling called back to ministry in 2023. She returned as the director of discipleship and engagement, and in 2024, she was commissioned as a minister through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Indiana Region.

In her current role, Michelle focuses on helping people find their place in the church and live out their faith through various outreach opportunities and engagement. She thrives in creating new groups, projects, and programs that allow others to use their gifts for God’s work. Her passion for serving others, nurturing both spiritual and personal growth, and finding joy in connecting with God’s creation serves her well in this role.

 Michelle also finds peace and purpose in nature with a love of gardening, a deep appreciation for the beauty found in the outdoors, a calling to the warmth of the ocean, and the joy of IU Tailgates. She can be found in her backyard paradise most summer evenings.
