“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:5 – Unlike Matthew and Luke, John tells a very different birth story. For many of us we have grown accustomed to characters such as Shepard and Wise men and a scene that takes place in Bethlehem in a manger. John on the other hand takes a very symbolic approach to the birth of Jesus. He uses words such as light, glory, and truth to introduce the reader to this majestic and mysterious event of Jesus’ birth.
