That’s Not in the Bible: “Love the Sinner. Hate the Sin.”
This statement was used by Augustine around the year 424 to speak to a love of humankind and a dislike for sin. Since then, it has been used to marginalize people who did not fit into narrow definitions of right and wrong. How many of the world’s issues are caused by believing that our position is bathed in divine correctness? In every encounter, Jesus invites us to move from hostility to hospitality.
