Ted Lasso: Be Curious, Not Judgmental-Promise Road Campus
“When they heard this, everyone in the synagogue was filled with anger. They rose up and ran him out of town.” Luke 4:28-29a – Over a game of darts, Ted has a conversation with Rupert, the pompous ex-owner of AFC Richmond. “You know Rupert, guys have underestimated my entire life. And for years I never understood why. It used to really bother me. But then one day I was driving my little boy to school and I saw this quote from Walt Whitman painted on the wall there that said “Be curious. Not Judgmental.” I like that.” The Gospels ask us to be curious rather than judgemental. When Jesus came to his hometown and proclaimed that salvation has come, his hometown reacts in a judgemental way. Faithfulness demands curiosity.
