Critical Conversations|Exploring Racism
God has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8 CEB).
Beginning July 7, Geist Christian Church is offering three weekly study opportunities called Critical Conversations, around the topic of racism. The church understands this is not easy and is often a sensitive topic for many, but the time is right for us to take a critical look at the subject. The book, Anxious to Talk About It: Helping White People Talk Faithfully About Racism by Carolyn Helsel will guide the time together along with a variety of podcasts, as we do this hard work of building up the Kingdom of God. Below are the locations and times for each of the offerings. All three classes will use the same materials but we ask that you stay with the time you pick, as it is hoped that class participation will lead to bonding of the group.
Please sign up below for your class time preference. Be sure to select your preference on the method you will use to receive a copy of the book. We hope you will join us on this journey of self-discovery as we seek justice, love, and mercy for all of God’s beloved.
